Frank at Cinco de Mayo 2011

Hey y’all, Frank here. Instead of the typical scenario in which a hired writer interviews me and then writes my bio, I’ve decided to simply write you from the heart myself.. in the end, it’s all about the music anyway.

I was born in Tempe and raised in Phoenix Arizona; my folks are Joe and Jessie Ortega. I’ve played music since the fifth grade.

Years ago my heart settled in country music and I’ve never looked back. I’ve been twenty twice now and happy to say that I’ve done more good than bad in my life.

I didn’t grow up being poor nor wealthy but have been both so far in my life. I’ve pissed some folks off in my years but some of ‘em had it coming. I love helping people as much as I can but have a very low tolerance for fake judgmental assclowns.

I believe in second chances and the underdog among other things and try to sing about what matters to me. I’m not the same person I was in the past and probably won’t be the same person years from now. I like talking with old people as they seem to be the wisest. I’m very aware of etiquette but can’t stand folks who are overly concerned with it.

My favorite color is black and my favorite number is 13; I love Waffle House and Pete’s Fish and Chips.

I intend to keep making music and wherever that leads me…I will go.

—Frank Ortega
